CHAD AND DARFUR

Since 2004, in collaboration with UNHCR, World Food Programme and the British Council, we’ve been supporting displaced children to access education in refugee camps on the border between Chad and Darfur, reaching thousands of students and teachers.

30,000 textbooks in Arabic for Darfuri primary school children and their teachers in Am Nabak, Iridimi and Toulum refugee camps.

Connecting schools in the UK and Chad to create a support network of students and teachers for young people in the camps, and an opportunity to learn for children in the UK. Students write letters to one another swapping stories of their lives creating connections and empathy and supporting fundraising.

“For us, in the camps in Chad, education is everything. With small assistance, we have something to aim for and prepare ourselves…we can prove our humanity by learning.”
